PORTAFOLIO

Welcome to my revenge fantasy

I believe in drawing inspiration from my experience and identity. Being Colombian has been one of the greatest pleasures of my life, but living and growing up in Colombia as a woman means experiencing gender-based violence on multiple levels on an ongoing basis. Every year, thousands of cases of physical, psychological, and sexual violence are reported, and the statistics on femicides and gender-based violence reveal an alarming trend. Beyond the numbers, this violence manifests itself in daily experiences: the fear of walking alone at night, the vulnerability on public transportation, or the constant need to carefully monitor one’s movements to avoid becoming a target.

Nighttime—traditionally associated with freedom, leisure, and personal expression—becomes, for many women, a space of constant alert. Going out dancing, returning home after a party, or simply moving around the city involves constantly negotiating with risk. These experiences are not exceptional; they are part of a reality shared by many Colombian women.

This collection is born from that tension: the contradiction between the desire to experience femininity freely and the constant need to protect oneself in an environment that still perpetuates gender violence. Instead of portraying women solely as victims, the project proposes an alternative narrative where femininity becomes a symbol of resistance, reaction, and control over one’s own body and space.

Overview and Insights

This collection explores femininity as a force that refuses to apologize. Through lace, sheer fabrics, garters, and intimate silhouettes reinterpreted as outerwear, the pieces transform

elements traditionally associated with vulnerability into symbols of power.

Inspired by the femme fatale aesthetic and the city’s nocturnal energy, the collection imagines a fictional universe where women not only survive everyday violence but also

reclaim control. In this symbolic scenario, the body ceases to be a vulnerable space and becomes an aesthetic armor.

The garments engage in a dialogue between two seemingly opposing languages:

  • Sensualityand threat

  • Delicacy and confrontation

  • Intimacy and exposure

The use of black lace, sheer tulle, and intense tones like burgundy and pink creates a visual atmosphere that blends seduction with tension. Garter belts, sheer

fabrics, and lingerie-inspired structures evoke the imagery of traditional femininity, but are

presented with a confrontational, almost cinematic attitude.

The collection thus poses a central question:

What happens when femininity stops justifying itself and decides to respond?

In this narrative universe, the female reaction is not seen as excess or provocation, but as a legitimate act of reclaiming power. Each piece becomes a statement: a way of inhabiting the night with presence, control, and autonomy.

This project could be seen as a desperation letter towards Colombian epidemic of feminicides. Am a young women whos depply tired of the extreme mesures I must take to go out  in a “safe” way and even then being aware that if the worst came to happen I would be blamed.

What it means to me

Although this idea was inspired by the posibility of acting in full violent reactiveness as and asthetic I also kept in mind how the realization of this clothing line will actually have extra widgets that are safety extras for women and are usually not thought through in design such as pockets both for money, ID and also for protection instruments that have became must haves like pepper spray.

With this project I struggle with many feelings. am not a violent person but I do wanted the art component in my work to represent a real problem in my society and visualising it while also kepping it interesting to a non femmale public

For who? for every women that wasnt surprise when the " 97% of women have experience sexual violence" went viral

I wanted my target public to be women who could identify with my same problem and help me with the correct questions to ask myself. I think the femmale population that struggles the most with this problem is women 20 til 35 that are economically independent and enjoy moments in community. As a Colombian I also decided I wanted to focus on the variables of this problem in my country.  I created a survey and share it with the most public I could find that fit this description.

what I realize was that “arms” such as pepper spray and others used for self defense are mostly for confidense. most women with them dont realy know how to use them but the idea of not being indefese towards the thread of violence is recomforting. Sadly I do see a need in the market for design with this tools in mind.

also pockets to keep money and identification are usefull in dangerous and non dangerous situations. Sometimes carring your own stuff and not relying in no one can safe you

I wanted hiper femenine textiles in hiper femenine colors. I think in nature female means protective rage but in humans femininity has gotten a cognotation of weakness which I want this line to question.

I only made two of the propose outfits. I this outfit you can see a panty with multiple pockets, ligas with pockets design for self defense tools, two laced brassiers also with pockets and a complementary skirt.
